This is perhaps the holy grail of Agent Provocateur - the Maschina bodysuit. The A/W 2008 ‘Season of the Witch’ campaign had so many iconic pieces and is hands down my personal favourite. After a year of searching, refusing to give out to silly eBay listings way over retail, and collecting the two piece first the patience payed off when I finally found this a few months ago new with tags for £25!
It feels a little silly to review an item that’s a decade out of production but when purchasing long gone items on reselling sites I’ve always found it handy to find posts online as there’s no longer the possibility to just try on and return. As a bodysuit that only sold in S/M/L with a single zip fastening the fit realistically likely won’t be perfect for most, myself included. The underwired cups are a little big and don’t sit flush against my 30B yet the bottom likely wouldn’t fit any bigger than my 35” hips as there is no stretch in the tulle; it’s not uncomfortable though.
I’m lucky to have found this in a NWOT condition that has been stored well as this set was known for losing elasticity in the straps/trim so be aware when buying that repair may be needed. The tulle also has a very saturated yellow beige colour to it so it’s not as invisible on most skin tones as the revamped Bailey set is (I’m also lucky to be somewhat close in shade, I know not everyone will be). All in all it’s still a gorgeous piece and one that won’t be leaving my collection!
